Munaf:We need to believe more in ourselves

Was the result a fair reflection of the game?
Abdul Munaf (AM): It was disappointing from the result point of view and in particular our performance in the second half. We coped very well in the first half and stopped Bukit Merah & MacPherson from creating chances. Seven and five goals respectively were definitely too much as at least two or three of the goals were the result of our own errors.
What could we have done more?
AM: I was not satisfied with our attacking play and we did not take enough initiative in front of goal to create more chances for ourselves.
What was the biggest lesson for us?
AM: There were two elements in which we were not good enough on the night: we were not good enough in 1 v 1 situations both in attacking and defending situations and in the second half our fitness levels dropped. In the second half, we didn’t play as a team but instead played as individuals.
What were the positives we could take out of the game?
AM: We showed what we could do in the first half especially tactically. We need to start believing more in ourselves and not be afraid about facing any team.
Your thoughts on Naqib’s first appearance for the Bedok Team after his month layoff?
AM: He is definitely very promising and one for the future. It will be too tough to judge him based on this game but he must learn to be more adventurous in game situations and he should not be afraid.
